This activity helps reinforce what the student has learned about marine turtles, as well as
developing his/her confidence in public speaking.
Students choose one of the following topics and are given 10 or 15 minutes to prepare a short
speech that is then delivered to the rest of the class.

a. Conservation of marine turtles is needed to sustain healthy populations of marine
turtles.

b. People benefit from marine turtles in many different ways.

c. Marine turtles are important for kastom in Solomon Islands and the South Pacific.

d. Why turtles are disappearing from the Pacific and the world.
